    Senior Systems Administrator

    Position Overview

    DMM is seeking a motivated systems administrator for our Scarborough location. The ideal candidate will be technical and can do both hands-on desktop support and systems/network administration. In this role, you will leverage your technical knowledge to be an integral part of a small team working directly with the user base providing technical support. Hybrid remote/in-person schedule available after initial training.

    This position is responsible for keeping the network functioning at optimal levels, including the internal network (LAN), a company-wide network that encompasses multiple locations (WAM), and the connection with the outside world. Duties also include server maintenance and backup, email administration, database administration, assigning and maintaining user login and access privileges, the actual hard-wiring of jacks to workstations and phones. The Systems Administrator is a critical player in protecting users from outside cyber threats, including hackers, viruses, spyware, and malware.

    Responsibilities will include Local Area Network, Microsoft Servers, Help Desk ticket response, Database management MS SQL, New Machine Setup, New Hardware acquisition and setup, Software License Management, Maintenance Contracts Management, Server Room Monitor, New Systems Upgrade, New Project Support, Vendor Management, Cloud Management, and Tools administration.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Install and maintain all systems on the DMM network, including PCs, servers, switches, and appliances.
    • Performs all routine Network Administration tasks according to DMM policy and procedure.
    • Performing and documenting all server and PC updates, ensuring that DMM is current with patches but also testing in a test environment to ensure compatibility before deployment.
    • Provides helpdesk and advanced support to DMM users, both internal and external to the facility.
    • Maintains a complete history of hardware/software purchases, installations, and moves.
    • Maintains documentation on procedures and configuration changes, keeping records of change history, specifically with security changes (door keycard, firewall, auditing, etc.).
    • Maintain all software on the DMM network, including installations, upgrades, and updates.
    • After hours and/or weekend work required as needed to perform tasks that cannot be done during business hours.

    Education and Experience

    • Associates degree or higher is preferred and/or relevant 3+ years’ work experience.
    • Experience with but not limited to:
    • Microsoft Windows (XP Professional, Server 2000, Server 2003, Server 2008)
    • Microsoft Exchange
    • Active Directory, Group Policy, Client/Server Domain Environment
    • Microsoft SQL Database Administration
    • Firewall Configuration and Support
    • 3+ years of work experience in a similar environment.

    Physical Requirements

    • Work is performed in a normal office setting as well as in a computer machine room as needed.
    • Considerable job stress is involved when deadlines need to be met and in handling emergency situations.
    • Sitting for extended periods of time.
    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects.
    • Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
    • Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients.

    General Work Environment

    • Normal exposure to an office environment.
